File this one under 'WTF'. Norwegian Black Metallers-turned experimentalists Ulver have just posted a cover of Prince's 1990 hit "Thieves in the Temple" on their MySpace. The cover, which isn't particularly compelling, will appear on Shockadelica: 50th Anniversary Tribute To The Artist Known As Prince, a tribute to Prince featuring Norwegian artists of all ilks.
Ulver released Shadows of the Sun last year, their most lush and moving opus to date. If you haven't heard it yet, please note that it's required listening for all crustcake readers.

Genghis Tron to Issue Limited Vinyl Remix Albums

Genghis Tron announced today that they will be issuing several remix albums on limited run vinyl. Totaling five releases the band will be using several different labels (Temporary Residence Ltd., Lovepump United, Relapse Records, Anticon Records, and Crucial Blast) and artists (Jesu, Ulver, Dntel, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and more) and will be limited to 1,000 pressings. Additionally, Board Up the House cover artist Jon Beasley will be providing art for each new release.
Continue reading for the band's official statement. "We are very excited to announce a series of special GT releases which we've been scheming for quite some time now. Those who have been following us for a while know that we've always been interested in remixes, but to date we've only released a few GT remixes on a few tour-only CDs.
The 12" colored vinyl will be made available from each of the respective record companies in coming months, beginning with Temporary Residence.
We've wanted to do something grander and more "official" for a long time, so we're proud to say that we've finally assembled a very massive, very official remix project. We reached out to lots of musicians who we admire and overall we've been completely overwhelmed at their willingness to participate in this massive, awesome project. More importantly, the remixes are sounding pretty mind-blowing so far...we're excited to share them with you."
In the spirit of remixes, for which we don't have particularly strong feelings one way or another, here's Philadelphia electro-band Pony Pants remixed by Genghis Tron themselves:

* This is almost as funny and entertaining as the aforementioned Hall of Douchebags, and I can't help but notice that this guy somewhat resembles my current appearance. We'll just have to wait and see what he's all about when Rob updates later this month. Hey, at least I don't look like this dude. Yet.
