Monday Metal Update 6/9

Our favorite party thrashers, Municipal Waste, have released a video for the song "Sadistic Magician" off their 2007 album The Art of Partying.
[T]he clip features the band performing "Sadistic Magician" inside an extremely volatile nuclear power plant. The plant can't handle the manic energy of MUNICIPAL WASTE and starts falling apart, causing absolute gory mayhem to befall the citizens and wildlife of the areas surrounding it.There's plenty of toxic green ooze in the video (probably from the above barrels), and that's never a bad thing.
Municipal Waste - "Sadistic Magician":
The Waste will be tearing it up on the road next month with At The Gates.
Earache's other throwback thrashers, SSS, have some dates scheduled in Europe.
SSS - 2008 Dates:
21 Jun 2008 Manchester, UK - Central Skatepark #We've said it before and we'll say it again-- Boston's Have Heart are picking up right where Modern Life Is War left off. The hardcore quintet just posted a new track on their MySpace, "Hard Bark on the Family Tree," which comes off their forthcoming album, Songs to Scream at the Sun (July 8th, Bridge 9). They've got a ways to go before they are in the same league as MLIW, but they're on the right track.

We've made our love for Dethklok known around here, and now the New York Times is getting in on the action. Check out their poorly-written and utterly uninteresting feature on Metalocalypse creators Brendan Small and Tommy Blacha here (thanks Kelli).

We mentioned it briefly before, but here's the trailer for Lemmy: The Movie:
"Rock n' roll is Lemmy. Lemmy is rock n' roll!"

[Wetnurse]
Seventh Rule Recordings has announced a September 30 release date for the new full-length album by New York's Wetnurse, Invisible City. The album was recorded and mixed by Martin Bisi (Swans, Helmet) at B.C. Studio in Brooklyn, NY, and was mastered by Alan Douches (Converge, Mastodon) at West West Side Music. Check out a track and the album's cover art here.
New York readers mark your calendars-- Wetnurse will be appearing with Intronaut, Behold... The Arctopus, and Mouth Of The Architect at the Knitting Factory on August 8th.
UK drone-doom death-ritual conjurers Moss will release their new album, Sub Templum, on July 8th via Rise Above Records.

[The Roller]
Austin, TX old-school doomsters The Roller will be releasing their first full-length on June 17th via Monofonus Press. Check out a track off the record:

Monday Metal Update 6/2

Boooooring.
What a boring week. The most interesting thing that happened in the metal world this past week? A curtain fell during an Opeth show. Is that corduroy?
"The Drapery Falls," as one (or several) witty commenters... commented. Seriously, though, that's it. Not really much else going on, total snoozefest.
Alrighty, why don't you take a little perusal of the internets with us. Let's see what's crappenin over on Blabbermouth. Oh, Motörhead have announced their new album title! We do like Motörhead-- Lemmy is as close as anything we have to a god 'round these parts.
What else is going on? Oh wow, Alice Cooper will be releasing his new album on June 29th, yay! Didn't he, like, die after the Wayne's World movie? Man, that guy is old. 60, to be exact.
Alright, what's going on elsewhere on the interweb... Ah, this is cool. Trash Talk have posted a new track off their forthcoming eponymous album on their MySpace page.
Hmmmm... what else? Uhhhhhh... Ummmmmmmm.... ahhhhhhhhhhh. Oh!
No.....
Wait!!!
Ah, nope...
Ah! Here's something! This is good shit. It has absolutely nothing to do with metal though, just deal. How to draw Peter Cetera in Seven Mind-blowingly Easy Steps.
Thanks for riding the crustcake internet train. Have a nice day.
Bye.

Moronathon
Hi, I'm Rufus. I'm going to throw up. Vomit-a-saurus. There's a competition today for who's the bigger imbecile, and it's between one of those fucking clowns from Slipknot and, big surprise, Tony Brummel. Let's start with Mr. Brummel.
So, Tony is raging against some band called Endwell, who probably suck (I don't have enough time to find out) but not as much as Victory Records. I'm gonna send you over to MetalSucks for some homework.
Go now.
Isn't that fun.
Then there's this clown from some band called Slipknot, who I've never heard of before because I've never heard of anything that sucks. Apparently they're pretty big with the tykes, especially the ones who wear those big pants and spike their hair up or whatever. You can find them at the metallest of all places on earth, the shopping mall. At Hot Topic. They look like this.
Alright, so you know how metal bands are always saying their new record is 'gonna be harder, heavier, faster, more extreme' yada yada yada bullshit vomit diarrhea of the mouth? Well Mr. Clownpenis from the band Slipknot isn't gonna say all that:I'm not that guy who's going to tell you it's harder. Harder, to me, doesn't mean anything. I could give a shit about hard. Hard means nothing to the Clown. SLIPKNOT is a phenomenon, it's an enigma, and the enigma weighs on your emotions.
There's more of this crapola here, but I think you get the point.
[W]e are the hardest ever. We blow all bands away. I don't give a fuck who your band is. I've probably played with your band, and you don't show me shit. So, it's like, is this band heavy? Oh, yeah, we're the heaviest.
So, uh, yeah.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Like I said, vomit-a-saurus. I'm gonna go pound about a gallon of bourbon and listen to Motörhead until I forget all about this shit. Bye.

Remember that time we slagged Grails' drummer Emil Amos? Well, Mr. Amos (not the famous one) has been officially announced as Chris Hakius' replacement in Om. Monday Metal Update 4/14

As we recently alluded to, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Heaven and Hell (Dio-fronted Black Sabbath), and Testament are rumored to be embarking on a massive tour de force in the US later this summer. Nothing 'official' has been announced yet, but the tour's been confirmed by several sources including Testament's Chuck Billy at their recent NYC gig.
Obviously, these shows will be at those massive arenas and amphitheaters with names like Such-and-Such Bank Center and So-and-So Automotive Company Pavilion, so let us give you that lineup once more to revive your enthusiasm:
• TestamentDates (rumored, so far) are as follows:

This will be the general public's first chance to catch a glimpse of William Murderface and the entire cartoon crew live and in the 'flesh,' as the bogus band's debut trek last year was only a brief college tour.

Crustcake Picks - LA Shows 4/10 - 4/16

by beatmasterspeech (LA)
Testament will be at Key Club this Saturday & Sunday, but I'm holding out for their rumored tour with Motörhead, Heaven & Hell, and Judas Priest. Your money will be better spent on that package, and it appears that it'll be going from rumor to reality soon. Fingers crossed!
And as previously mentioned, Keep of Kalessin will be layering on the eyeliner for their Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir supporting slot at The Grove next Wednesday. I have yet to catch the eyeliner assassins but Dimmu and Behemoth usually put on a good show.
