PELICAN RELEASE DOUBLE-VINYL LP, COFFEE BLEND

Pelican

Chicago's celebrated (and derided) instru-metal heavies Pelican are commemorating the Feb. 23 double-vinyl issuance of last year's What We All Come to Need with a one-off show in March in their home town and (wait for it) a limited-edition coffee blend.

Yes, you read that right. Pelican's "Ephemeral Bean Blend," produced in conjunction with Chi-town's Intelligentsia Coffee, will only be available at that March 12 show.

More information, including a note from the band, select tour dates and vinyl specs, after the jump.

Vinyl info:
What We All Come to Need was Pelican's Southern Lord debut. Originally released on CD in October 2009, the new, deluxe double-vinyl version will be housed in a heavyweight, gatefold jacket. Sides A, B and C will contain the album's eight original tracks; Side D will feature three bonus tracks not available on the CD version.

Statement from Pelican re: Ephemeral Bean Blend:

"The richest, most complex flavors take patience and skill to craft and are over far too quickly. In that spirit we are proud to present this blend of coffee beans, who have known artisan care from their moment of inception at the farms at which they were grown to the roastery where their delicate nuances were honed to perfection by the skilled craftsmen at Intelligentsia. Enjoy the moment while it lasts."

Pelican will also appear at the recently-announced Scion Rock Fest in Columbus, Ohio on March 13. The free event features more than 20 bands including Shrinebuilder, Yob, Absu, D.R.I., Cannibal Corpse, Voivod, Trap Them and more.
