I've been living in Austin, Texas for less than a month now, but I think I already know who my favorite local band is: crossover powerhouse Iron Age. They've been compared to both Ride the Lightening-era Metallica and the Cro-Mags, which isn't so far off, but I think they're only a few tokes away from High on Fire.

This year they released their second album, The Sleeping Eye on Tee Pee Records. It's a solid album filled with memorable riffs, howled vocals, hardcore intensity and plenty of room to headbang. Their live show is where they really slay though, and because they tour heavily, you have no excuse to not see them. They're touring with Baroness later this year, so you really have no excuse to not see them.
