Tour: Samothrace

Honestly this is a case of great marketing. When we got the press release for Samothrace's upcoming tour a couple of things jumped out at us:

1)Their record is being put out by 20 Buck Spin (gerf immediately got a boner).

2)Sanford Parker recorded their album, you may remember us mentioning him last week. A member of MINSK with a recording/mixing list to make one drool (Buried At Sea, Pelican, Nachtmystium, Unearthly Trance).

The band's sound is slow, melodic, and somehow different; we initially had a hard time putting our finger on what separated this band from other records we had heard. Really, we think it is just a feel, a Midwestern feel. The use of down home melody is retrained and not over-powering or distracting, but it's effectiveness is unsettling.
