by theseseans (NYC)

Tonight! Opeth, High on Fire, and Nachtmystium play the Nokia Theater in Times Square. Fuck, I am excited as this will be my first time seeing Opeth.

Also this week in NYC metal, we have the ever illustrious Motorhead, with support from Valient Thorr rocking Saturday night at Roseland. Along with these shows we have several excellent local shows to pepper your otherwise weak weekend, including Friday night's Unsound show at Fontana's featuring Unearthly Trance, Aun, Batillus, and The Subarachnoid Space. Read more for a complete list of our recommended shows this week.

See you out there.

You're in for a treat. Opeth are FANTASTIC live. Mikael Akerfeldt also has some of the most hilarious stage banter on the planet.

I love Opeth, but they've been hit-or-miss for me live. Hoping for a grand slam tonight.

Stoked for Nachtmystium, though. And High On Fire always deliver.

you can't go wrong with a bill like that. Nachmystium drops off the bill when they reach the west coast... but only to be replaced by Baroness

the show was so good it was just stupid. I had minor 'whines' about the sound, but all the bands delivered. Opeth were incredible and Mikael WAS hilarious.

They played one song off of Morning Rise that I would have replaced with something off the past two albums, but other than that their set was awesome. Wait, I should save this for our awesome review of the show. yeah.

also think Motorhead show openers ASG are worth a mention here. they just got added to the bill a week ago i think. Their Win Us Over album is one of the catchiest hard rock records of the year imo, something any Torche fan could get into.

I didn't even know they were on the bill! I just friended them on myspace, and will check em out.
