Crustcake Picks - New Music 5/13

Crustcake Picks New Music

We've been talking a lot about The Black Angels' new album, Directions to See a Ghost, which you can finally get your grubby little hands on tomorrow, and we suggest that you do. Besides that, we recommend checking out Abysmal Dawn's punishing Relapse debut or Deicide's new Earache offering or, if you're looking for something a little less brutal, definitely pick up Acid Mothers Temple's latest, Recurring Dream and Apocalypse.

Also worth checking out tomorrow, Transistor Transistor's Kurt Ballou-produced Ruined Lives (Level Plane) and Fucked Up's Epics In Minutes (Jade Tree). Andrew of Aversionline has a great write-up of Epics In Minutes:

This is a collection CD of most every song from the band's vinyl releases to date, often appearing as alternate mixes from the versions on the actual EP's. Apparently the band prefers the 7" format and is just doing this to satiate non-vinyl-loving fans who want to hear their music.

that's cool about the Fucked Up release, although now that I have started buying 7"s in a round about way of MAKING me buy a turntable, i think i would rather hear the originals.
