We got love for Del Tha Funkee Homosapien around here, we especially dig on his Deltron 3030 album. Eight years after his last solo album, 2000's Both Sides of the Brain, Del is back with a new album, Eleventh Hour, and a new video.

Radar Recordings latest signee, Denver's Adai, put out a big fucking sound for only two dudes (duos are the new power trio... wait, does anyone even say power trio anymore?). Their debut EP, ...I Carry will be out later this year but in the meantime check out this clip of the duo playing "The March..." Apparently they're big ellipsis enthusiasts.

Three weeks ago we jumped on the indie-blog-bandwagon and posted a video of Brooklyn's Yeasayer jamming "2080" on Conan. Here's another clip from the band, a takeaway show from La Blogotheque that finds the band in a cappella mode on the Paris subway.
As someone who lives in New York City and deals with annoying subway 'musicians' on a daily basis (trust me, there are few things worse than heading down into the subway after a long night of drinking only to be greeted by some jackoff beating on his collection of buckets, pot, pans, auto parts, and the fucking kitchen sink) I can actually appreciate this performance. Listening to the reaction of the bystanders, it seems they did too.

2 hollers:
Ironically, one of the best NYC subway performers I've ever seen is a dude who plays a bunch of pots and pans that are strapped to his chest (no kitchen sink), with such understated soul - my man seems like he's wandered underground straight from backwoods Mississippi and it is awesome... don't hate, celebrate! Although there obviously are a lot of clunkers too.
Hah, yeah-- I've never seen that guy but I think I would like him based on your description... The guys that drive me nuts are those 'clunkers' who play the same elementary drum beat over and over with little to no actual feel or groove...
