An nice mix of new music this week.
Our picks:
Envy - A Dead Sinking Story [Amazon]
Ladyhawk - Shots [Amazon]
Leadbelly - Masterworks [Amazon]
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig, Lazarus, Dig [Amazon]
Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV [NIN.com]
Vverevvolf Grehv - Zombie Aesthetic [Amazon]
Alright, let's just go down the list one by one...
For those who don't know, Envy is a Japanese hardcore band with a heavy post-rock influence. Atsuo (Boris) digs them, and that's enough for us. Pick up their album A Dead Sinking Story tomorrow.

Ladyhawk's Shots is a much-needed dose of dirty rock 'n roll. Ladyhawk made a documentary about the making of Shots.

We love the blues and we love Leadbelly, but where to begin?! Shit... I mean, with this guy any of compilation would be a decent start-- it's best to pick out songs you dig and find a comp that fits. "C.C. Rider," "Black Snake Moan," "Goodnight Irene," and "Boll Weevil" are some of his more popular tunes. Crustcake readers are probably more familiar with Nirvana's take on Leadbelly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" from the MTV Unplugged in New York album. Tomorrow's Masterworks release contains 18 classic Leadbelly tracks and is as good a place as any to start with this blues master.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have a new one out tomorrow, Dig, Lazarus, Dig, which has, not surprisingly, been receiving rave reviews all around. The video for "Dig, Lazarus, Dig" = awesome.

Ok, so technically this Nine Inch Nails 'album', Ghosts I-IV, is not a Tuesday release-- it was unleashed on Sunday-- but it's surely worth mentioning. From the press release:
Nine Inch Nails presents Ghosts I - IV, a brand new 36 track instrumental collection available right now. Almost two hours of new music composed and recorded over an intense ten week period last fall, Ghosts I - IV sprawls Nine Inch Nails across a variety of new terrain.
Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."

And finally, Vverevvolf Grehv... We don't know much about this other than that it is the brainchild of The Faint guitarist Dapose, who is Vverevvolf Grehv's lone member. Check out some tracks on the MySpace.
