Crustcake Picks - New Music 3/11

Crustcake Picks New Music

A little bit of the metal and a little bit of the hip hop this week. We found the following new releases interesting...

Dark Fortress - Eidolon [Amazon]

Proggy black metal... the debut was good, I was actually spinning it frequently about two weeks ago-- has many strong points, but some super boring riffs thrown in… I’m very much interested in hearing the new one, they have a good ear for fast picking hypnotic riffs. -- beatmasterspeech
Del Tha Funkee Homosapien - Eleventh Hour [Amazon]
Del's flow is as unique as ever and if the production isn't as jaw-dropping as his Deltron 3030 tracks, I am still psyched enough to listen to some great lyrical flow backed by instrumentation more interesting than the majority of what passes for rap these days...I say "dig it". -- Burning Dervish

Download: Del that Funkee Homosapien - "Bubble Pop" [MP3]
Meshuggah - obZen [Amazon]
See our review.
Snoop Dogg - Ego Trippin' [Amazon]
The truth of the matter is Snoop's ninth album bares no resemblance to its intended outcome: it was supposed to be an uncharacteristically solo effort (in contrast to all of his previous albums) with no guest rappers or singers, [b]ut you would be foolish to expect something "different" from a brand artist like Snoop Dogg. -- Dan Nishimoto
Zimmers Hole - When You Were Shouting at the Devil, We Were in League with Satan [Amazon]
Featuring members of Strapping Young Lad, Zimmers Hole have fun with metal. I mean, check the album title. If you like SYL’s humor, this one goes one step further or goes to eleven or is one louder… you get the point. -- beatmasterspeech
