Sweet Cobra - "Fucking Fertilizer" Video

Few bands come along and push me to the brink of grabbing a brewski and heading for the skate ramp or circle pit. Sweet Cobra is one of those bands. They mix d-beat, sludge, and riff rock sounds in a kick-to-the-Adam’s-apple aural assault that only experienced, weathered players can hash out.

And weathered they are-- the band includes ex-Milemarker/Challenger drummer Tim Remis (aka Botchy Vasquez), who emerges from behind the kit to become a valid frontman/bassist, and Jason Gagovski, who spent time in Stabbed by Words and Suicide Note.

I’ll be honest, their initial release, Praise, passed me by in 2004 (I think I was still in ‘smog’ shock due to my recent move to LA). Last year's Forever, though, was a different story-- it quickly grabbed me by the dick and swung me into the nearest record store for a blue light special. Forever's combination of downtuned rockin’ and beer-tinged hollers culminate in one hell of a rocksterpiece.

Sweet Cobra don’t have any tour dates scheduled at the moment, but they just released a video for “Fucking Fertilizer” and if it’s any indication as to the ferocity that these sludgecore warriors are capable of unleashing live, we’re all in for a treat when they do come around.
