"Freshly Baked" is a new feature on crustcake (but by no means a very creative one!) in which we'll be focusing on promising young bands that haven't received much attention yet.

Kowloon Walled City, who hail from the Bay Area, are a young band. Their first show was a mere two months ago and they have less than 100 friends on MySpace. These guys aren't amateurs, though, and one listen to their Turk Street EP will validate that.
Their sound is a potent mixture of monumental, crushing riffs; crusty, hardcore-tinged vocals; and deliberate, groove-oriented drumming. The production on Turk Street is fantastic-- sludgy and raw yet clear and crisp. These guys clearly know the sound they want and are able to achieve it in the studio.
Download Turk Street for free at their website (or just click here), crack open a beer and crank up the volume for a punishing, bottom-heavy riff assault!
